The Near Southside will gain another connection to Lancaster Avenue and the heart of Downtown with this 2004 City bond project, scheduled for design in 2008 and construction beginning in 2009.
FWSI has been advocating certain elements for the design, including safe and comfortable pedestrian and bicycle facilities, street trees along the roadside and within the median, as well as future accommodation of a modern streetcar system.
This project will be another showcase for the Fort Worth Public Art program. Artist Dan Corson will work with the TranSystems engineering team to incorporate public art into the underpass design.
